Eastern National Forests have their own problems. While the root cause (non-management) is the same nationwide, the issues differ in scope and detail. Here’s a joint proposal made by two diverse interest groups, timber and wildlife, to the National Forests in North Carolina. It defines a set of problems and suggests science-based solutions. The thoughts presented may be useful to other user groups and forest policy makers seeking better ways to manage public lands. It will be especially interesting to those whose interest lies in multi-resource management of mountain forests of the east
